PAUL PREDICTS THE 2017 OSCAR NOMINEES

It’s that time of the year again. The Oscar nominations arrive in the early hours of Tuesday, January 24th. Once again, I am participating in a “Guess the Nominees” contest for fellow blogger Shane over at his website, Film Actually. Here are my picks for who may hear their name called on nomination morning. Don’t be surprised if you hear La La Land mentioned over and over. I have it down for 14 nominations. That may be a bit excessive, but it sure is getting all of the buzz. Moonlight and Manchester By the Sea should both do very well. I think Best Picture is between one of those three, and it will be surprising what makes the rest of the list. Will we see all ten nominees this year? Each category was a bit hard to predict as you easily could replace a nominee with someone else that is just as deserving. I’ll post the nominees as well on Tuesday after their announced. Tune in!

  1. Wow, great list. I see you used all 10 slots for best picture. I do wonder whether Silence will finally see some attention.

    • Thank you! I picked 10 as there are many viable contenders, and I had a hard time thinking of some that wouldn’t get a nomination. I think the Academy will honor Scorsese by throwing in the Best Pic nom even if they don’t nominate him. I did love the movie and do think it’s deserved.
