TV Review: WANDAVISION

WANDAVISION Director: Matt ShakmanStarring: Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Kathryn Hahn, Debra Jo Rupp, Fred Melamed, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, Teyonah Parris Marvel is going in a new direction to kick off Phase 4. Their latest project is not a massive blockbuster film, but rather WandaVision, a new 30 minute series now streaming on Disney+. Audiences were introduced to Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff in Avengers Age of Ultron while Paul Bettany first provided the voice of Vision in Iron Man. Throughout the extensive Infinity Saga, we’ve seen both characters put through the ringer. Now, we’re finding them in a new setting as characters in a sitcom.Read More →

IN CONVERSATION: ANTHONY RUSSO “AVENGERS: ENDGAME”

IN CONVERSATION: ANTHONY RUSSO “AVENGERS: ENDGAME” Avengers: Endgame has become the highest-grossing film of all time. It was the culmination of a 22-film journey as we saw new heroes join the group as we said goodbye to others. The film ranks in my Top 3 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was the fourth Marvel collaboration for directors Anthony and Joe Russo following Captain America: Winter Solider, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War. To celebrate the Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel is heading out on the road for the “We Love You 3000 Tour”. Minneapolis was one ofRead More →

While I wasn’t there in person for the massive announcement, I was following along on Twitter (@PaulsMovieTrip) as Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige unveiled Marvel Phase Four. It consists of five new films and five television series to be aired over the new Disney streaming service, Disney+ Let’s break them down a little further as there are a bunch of new names and faces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. THE FILMS BLACK WIDOW (May 1, 2020) We first met Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow back in Iron Man 2, and she’s beenRead More →

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Director: Jon WattsStarring: Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, John Favreau, Marisa Tomei, Martin Starr, JB Smoove Eight months have passed since the tragic events of Avengers: Endgame. Peter Parker (Holland) aka Spider-Man just wants a little break. He’s looking forward to a class trip to Europe. He’s hoping to spend some quality time with MJ (Zendaya). If only it were that easy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A water monster and a man named Mysterio (Gyllenhaal) nearly destroy the city of Venice. Peter wrestles with the fact that his duties of being the friendly neighborhood Spider-ManRead More →

Movie Review: AVENGERS: ENDGAME

AVENGERS: ENDGAME Director: Anthony and Joe RussoStarring: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Brie Larson, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Josh Brolin, Bradley Cooper, Danai Gurira, Don Cheadle, Karen Gillan When we last left our Avengers at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, we saw many of them disappear as dust in the wind. The big bad Thanos (Brolin) got his hands on all six infinity stones, placed them on his gauntlet glove, and snapped his finger. Just like that it changed the course of the Marvel franchise. Avengers: Endgame picks up with the remaining survivors in mourning unable to shakeRead More →

PAUL’S TOP 5 MARVEL FILMS

PAUL’S TOP 5 MARVEL FILMS We are but days away from Avengers: Endgame. It’s the end of the road, so it seems, for many of our favorite Avengers characters as Marvel wraps up The Infinity Saga. The film is already shattering pre-sale records and may just be the highest grossing film of the year. I say that knowing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes in December. The Marvel films strike us all in different ways depending on the characters, worlds, and creatures we dig the most over these 21 movies. Here is a countdown of my Top 5 Marvel films with my original reviewsRead More →

Movie Trailer: SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Director: Jon WattsStarring: Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Tony Revolori, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Remi Hii, Cobie Smulders  Good news Marvel fans! Marvel and Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the trailer for the next Spidey adventure Spider-Man: Far From Home. The bar is pretty high right now given how well the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse has done with audiences and critics. Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker who’s European vacation seems to be cut short upon the arrival of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. The grand villain this go-around is Mysterio played by JakeRead More →

Movie Review: VENOM

VENOM Director: Ruben Fleischer Starring: Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Ron Cephas Jones, Melora Walters Tom Hardy takes on another comic book villain with Sony/Marvel’s Venom. He stars alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Jenny Slate. Is this a wasted origin story or a promising start for a new Tom Hardy franchise? Here’s my review.
