Official Synopsis: When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.
Buzz has been building for Scream 7 ever since it was announced shortly after the huge success of Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023). Production hit a few stumbling blocks as the creative team evolved and core cast members departed. Fans should be relieved that we are in safe hands with Scream creator Kevin Williamson now back as both the director and co-writer with Guy Busick. Busick also wrote the previous two entries.
The new trailer features the expected opening sequence, which seems to feature Jimmy Tatro and Michelle Randolph playing a couple who rent out Stu’s house as an Airbnb only to come face to face with Ghostface. This is a fantastic idea knowing that the original house where they filmed Stu’s house in Scream (1996) has also been made into an Airbnb a couple of times. The rest of the trailer primarily focuses on the return of Sidney Prescott (Campbell) who has left Woodsboro and now living in a new town with her husband, Mark (McHale), and daughter, Tatum (May), when Ghostface arrives wreaking havoc. Sidney will stop at nothing to protect her daughter. She appears to get help from Gale (Cox), Chad (Gooding), and Mindy (Savoy Brown). The trailer only features quick glimpses of them, while we also hear the familiar voices of Dewey (Arquette) and Stu (Lilliard). Both of these characters have passed away, so it will be interesting to see how they are used in the final film.
The trailer looks incredibly promising with massive set pieces, including STU’S HOUSE GOING UP IN FLAMES! I love that this is a Sidney story through and through, which brings this all back home again for both Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell.
