CINDERELLA
Director: Kay Cannon
Starring: Camila Cabello, Nicholas Galitzine, Idina Menzel, Billy Porter, Pierce Brosnan, Minnie Driver
If we get new versions of Spider-Man, Batman, or James Bond every few years, it’s fair to reason that we’ll continue to see new adaptations on the fairy tale of “Cinderella”. This time its pop star Camila Cabello who dons the glass slipper. What would a fairy tale be without a storyteller? Emmy winner Billy Porter tells this tale as Fab G, the Fairy God Mutha to Camila Cabello’s Cinderella. We learn that’s the nickname given to her by her wicked stepsisters and stepmother, played by Idina Menzel. Ella doesn’t let them get in her way as she’s destined to become a fashion designer despite the local businesses being run by men. During one of the changing of the guard ceremonies at the castle, she’s spotted by Prince Robert, played by Nicholas Galitzine. This couldn’t come at a better time as he’s prepping for a forced ball to meet his future wife. Getting Ella to the ball is the tricky part, but I’m sure you can figure out the rest once Fab G enters the picture with a healthy dose of magic. Streaming on Amazon Prime Video September 3
