Book Review: TRAVELS OF TERROR

TRAVELS OF TERROR

Move over, Rick Steves, as I have a new travel book recommendation that’s sure to excite horror enthusiasts. Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl have written a series of book in their “The Science of…” series with their deep dive into Witchcraft, Women in Horror, Agatha Christie, and Serial Killers. Now, they’re taking you on the road across America for some spooky haunts and filming locations for some of the greatest horror movies to date.

There’s no better place for them to start but in Salem, the site of the Salem Witch Trials. In each chapter, there are different boxes and sections they want to highlight whether its a “Hidden Gem We Discovered” “Spooky Movies and Books Set Here” “A Woman You Should Know” “Most Famous True Crime” and all the staples of a travel book on where you should eat, stay, and shop.

“Travels of Terror” is part travel book, part history book, and a whole lot of fun as they unpack the urban legends, cemeteries, and iconic figures they may still be roaming around parts of America. It’s an easy read that allows you to jump around from one city to the next, but if you’re anything like me you’ll get hooked instantly and won’t put it down. Drop this in your backpack for any late night excursions on your next big trip. You just never know what strange and spooky spots you might come across.

For more on Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl, check out their other books, listen to their podcast, “Horror Rewind”, and give them a follow on social media.

You can already pre-order their next book, “The Science of Alfred Hitchcock”, which will be released Spring 2025.
