A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE

Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Starring: Rebecca Ferguson, Idris Elba, Jason Clarke, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, Gabriel Basso, Greta Lee, Willa Fitzgerald

Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow has made a career of political thrillers with The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, and now A House of Dynamite. A House of Dynamite is told over the course of just one day. It’s an early, beautiful day in Washington, DC that feels no different than the day prior. Screenwriter Noah Oppenheim makes this an ensemble film showcasing the many departments and White House officials that come into play. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Captain Olivia Walker who says goodbye to her husband and young son as she heads to her job in the Situation Room next to Jason Clarke who plays the Director of Situation Room. They receive word a nuclear missile has been spotted off the Pacific Ocean and en route to the continental United States. Their crew scrambles to determine its trajectory and the time until impact. Nothing like this has happened before as others like a FEMA official (Ingram) or Secretary of Defense (Harris) try to determine if this is a real threat or an unannounced drill.  There’s a twenty-minute countdown as the President of the Unites States must make the final decision as to what will happen next. Idris Elba plays the POTUS. Now streaming on Netflix
