CHALLENGERS

Director: Luca Guadagnino
Starring: Zendaya, Mike Faist, Josh O’Connor, Christine Dye, Shane T Harris

The new film Challengers is rightfully one of the most buzzed about movies of the year thanks to its tantalizing premise and impeccable filmmaking. I don’t think I’ve seen a tennis movie as exhilarating as this, but director Luca Guadagnino and his creative team are firing on adrenaline with this story of passion, friendship, and being the best. Zendaya (coming off of the massive success of Dune Part Two) plays Tashi Duncan, a renowned tennis player whose career was cut short after an injury. She’s married to Art Donaldson (Faist) who is also a hot name in the game. They’re a power couple on and off the court as Tashi is Art’s coach. The Challenger match is approaching in New Rochelle, New York and the outcome could mean qualifying to the US Open. Slipping into the Challenger match at the last minute is Josh O’Connor as Patrick Zweig. He’s another hot competitor and as the film progresses, we learn the complicated relationship and friendship between him, Tashi, and Art. In theaters
