Clown in a Cornfield will reignite your fear of clowns and should satisfy your itch at this halfway point to Halloween. Adam Cesare’s YA novel of the same name gets a successful page to screen adaptation thanks to director Eli Craig who co-wrote the film with Carter Blanchard. Like any good horror movie, it kicks off with a brutal opening. It starts in 1991 with a bunch of rowdy teens partying outside a barn drinking and fooling around. Their night of fun ends in terror when two horny teens are brutally killed by a clown in the cornfield. It cuts to present day with Quinn Maybrook (Douglas) moving to the small town of Kettle Springs with her dad, Glenn (Abrams), who accepts a job as the town’s new doctor. Quinn’s first day at school is a bit rough but she meets a new friend group who takes her under their wing. Every year, the town celebrates Founders Day which celebrates the town’s locally produced corn syrup and its mascot Frendo the Clown. Quinn’s new friends flip the script by creating YouTube videos turning Frendo into a crazed killer clown. They soon find themselves the victims of a copycat Frendo who is turning their videos into reality. In theaters
