COMPANION

Writer/Director: Drew Hancock
Starring: Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Harvey Guillén, Rupert Friend, Megan Suri

2025 is already shaping up to be a great year for the horror genre with Heart Eyes and The Monkey coming out in the next few weeks. Up first is Companion, which will have you in a maze of twists and turns. Sophie Thatcher is making a name for herself in the horror genre with the series Yellowjackets and the movie Heretic. In Companion, she plays Iris who is reflecting on those rare moments when you find purpose in life. One of those moments is when she met her boyfriend, Josh (Quaid). It was your traditional meet cute at the grocery store in front of the oranges where it all began. Iris and Josh have an endearing relationship as we see in their car ride to Josh’s friends house for a weekend getaway. It’s a remote house secluded in the middle of nowhere. Horror fans should be tipped off as this is a key trope in the genre. However, this isn’t the type of decaying cabin we’re used to. It’s a posh home owned by a wealthy Russian named Sergey (Friend) who is sleeping with Josh’s friend, Kat (Megan Suri). Also along for the weekend are Patrick and Eli, a cute couple played by Lukas Gage and Harvey Guillén. Their weekend for fun in the sun takes a shocking turn when Iris comes back from the beach holding a knife and is covered in blood. In theaters
