William Shakespeare’s character Hamlet can be the Holy Grail for many actors. Riz Ahmed takes his stab at the legendary character in a new adaptation of Hamlet for the big screen. Screenwriter Michael Lesslie opens the film with Hamlet mourning over the death of his father. We see the cremation and his family’s celebration of life. It’s not long after the death that Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius (Malik), announces he will marry Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude (Chadha). It’s a confusing realization only to be made worse when Hamlet sees a ghostly vision of his father who proclaims he was killed by his very own brother, Claudius, to claim the throne. Hamlet descends into madness seeking to avenge his father’s death by exposing the truth of what his uncle did. In theaters
