KEEPER
Director: Osgood Perkins
Starring: Tatiana Maslany, Rossif Sutherland, Eden Weiss, Birkett Turton, Christin Park, Claire Friesen
Osgood Perkins has solidified himself in the horror genre with three films in the last two years. He had great success with Longlegs and The Monkey, and his latest film Keeper is another mind trip. Tatiana Maslany appeared in The Monkey and is now front and center as the star and executive producer of Keeper. She plays Liz, who has been unlucky in love but has settled into a relationship with Rossif Sutherland’s character, Malcolm. They’re celebrating their one-year anniversary of dating and head to his cabin in the middle of the woods. She feels a bit apprehensive as this is all very new for her. This cabin is really nice, well-furnished and that cozy escape she needs. It’s not the creaky, falling apart shack you would see in Evil Dead. Liz and Malcolm are celebrating a quiet night when the doorbell rings. It’s his cousin, David, and his girlfriend, Minka. She supposedly doesn’t speak English but says something to Liz that catches her off guard. Later that night, Liz is enjoying some chocolate cake that she doesn’t realize has been laced with something. The next day she starts having disturbing visions of other women and creatures that makes her question everything she knows about Malcolm. In theaters
