MARTY SUPREME

Director: Josh Safdie
Starring: Timothee Chalamet, Odessa A’zion, Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler the Creator, Ralph Colucci, Emory Cohen, Sandra Bernhard, Koto Kawaguchi, Abel Ferrara

In Timothée Chalamet’s SAG acceptance speech earlier this year for A Complete Unknown, he mentions wanting to achieve greatness at the highest level. You feel him reaching for that as Marty Supreme who also has those lofty goals. Chalamet continues to push himself as an actor, as he brings a frenzied chaos to Marty Mauser. Marty works as a shoe salesman and is on the verge of being promoted to manager. He doesn’t really care about this job as he’s more concerned about becoming the greatest table tennis player ever. He plays under the name Marty Supreme and is working on creating his own line of orange-colored balls with his name on them. It’s 1952, and he’s heading to London for a championship match. It’s there where he meets retired movie star, Kay Stone (Gwyneth Paltrow). He becomes infatuated with her, even though she’s married to wealthy entrepreneur, Milton Rockwell, who owns Rockwell Ink. He’s played by Kevin O’Leary. Marty also has a lover back home in New York with Odessa A’zion’s character, Rachel, who also happens to be married. His quick-thinking, fast-talking mouth and a drive for ambition gets him into a storm of chaos as he looks to reclaim his title of greatness. In theaters Christmas Day
