One of the most talked about and highest grossing movies of the year is the low budget horror film Obsession. Writer/director Curry Barker is the mad genius behind Obsession. He’s an up and coming filmmaker who got his start making YouTube videos. He’s cast mainly unknown actors as his leads with Michael Johnston playing Bear who has feelings for his coworker Nikki (Navarette). Their other friends, Ian (Tomlinson) and Sarah (Lawless), all work at a music store. Bear is a noble guy but going through a rough patch after the death of his cat. He can’t quite tell Nikki about the romantic feelings he has for her. She’s also going through a hard time as she wants a big change and wants to be a successful writer. He buys a classic ‘80s toy called “One Wish Willow” to cheer her up. It’s like a voodoo stick where you make a wish and break it in half. Their night together doesn’t quite go to plan, so he ends up using it himself making a wish that she would fall in love with him. This seems as harmless as a Ouija board, but almost instantly there’s a shift in the air and Nikki starts acting very strange around Bear. Their relationship takes off, but there are secrets, lies, and behavior that is dangerous and alarming. Available on 4K and BluRay on July 14
