SHOWING UP

Director: Kelly Reichardt
Starring: Michelle Williams, Hong Chau, Andre Benjamin, Judd Hirsch, Jon Magaro, Amanda Plummer

Writer/director Kelly Reichardt is a celebrated filmmaker in the indie film scene both domestically and internationally. She’s collaborating with Michelle Williams for their fourth film, Showing Up. Michelle Williams plays Lizzy, a sculptor looking to finish her pieces in time for her big show opening in a week. She has a small little home in Portland where she works out of her garage. Her neighbor, Jo (Chau), is also her landlord and a fellow artist. There’s some tension there as Jo doesn’t make for the best landlord always too busy with her art to fix the hot water problem. Lizzy is desperate for a day off to finish her work but finds herself as a caretaker for a pigeon after her cat nearly mauls it to death. In theaters and showing at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival on April 14
