Jane Schoenbrun is the acclaimed filmmaker behind the breakout film I Saw the TV Glow. They’re back pouring their soul out in the deeply personal film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Jane Schoenbrun is making a name for themselves in the horror genre with their work and its commentary on the power horror has on audiences. Emmy winner Hannah Einbinder stars as Kris, an aspiring filmmaker who is given the opportunity to reboot the classic slasher franchise Camp Miasma. This franchise has spawned action figures, countless sequels, board games and protests due to its content. It’s the type of Hollywood film that feels dated and problematic with a modern day lens. Kris has been brought on in the hopes that hiring a queer filmmaker can rebrand the franchise for a new audience. As part of her research, she reaches out to Billy who starred as the lead in the original Camp Miasma film. Emmy winner Gillian Anderson plays Billy who is now living at the abandoned camp used for filming the original movie. Billy is considered a “Final Girl” in the horror genre but is now living life as a recluse living on her old film set.
