THE RULE OF JENNY PEN
Director: James Ashcroft
Starring: Geoffrey Rush, John Lithgow, Nathaniel Lees, Anapela Polataivao, Thomas Sainsbury
Creepy dolls and creepy puppets are nothing new in the horror genre, but it takes a whole different meaning when they’re used in a senior retirement home. That’s the premise behind The Rule of Jenny Pen. Geoffrey Rush stars as Stefan Mortensen, a high-powered judge who suffers a stroke and faints during a trial he’s proceeding over. He’s placed in a retirement home with other seniors his age to get the help and care he needs. He’s also incredibly stubborn and believes the doctors are wasting his time, as he’s unlike the other patients. Odd occurrences and weird sightings start to happen shortly after he arrives. One of the other patients is Dave Crealy (John Lithgow) who wears a puppet on his hand named Jenny Pen. Dave uses Jenny Pen as a sort of manifestation and game where he torments the other patients. Stefan is attacked one night and is desperate to get the orderlies and doctor’s attention to understand what is happening behind closed doors. No one believes Dave or Jenny Pen could be capable of such violent behavior. Now in theaters and will be streaming on Shudder at a later date
