Weapons is the kind of horror movie that stands out in a crowded genre and will be discussed for decades to follow. It’s the new film from writer/director Zach Cregger who has cemented his name in the horror genre with just two films under his belt, Barbarian and Weapons. Weapons starts in the very horrific place of a school tragedy. Emmy winner Julia Garner stars as Justine, a new teacher at her elementary school who comes to school one day and finds only one kid has shown up for class. The seventeen other kids have gone missing, and their home security cameras detail how these kids left their homes in the middle of the night at 2:17 am frolicking to some unknown location. The parents are outraged blaming Justine for what happened, as it was only her class that was targeted. There’s no easy explanation, and the paranoia and hunt for the missing children takes over.
