Now on 4K/Blu-Ray: KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON

I have been patiently waiting for Martin Scorsese’s film Killers of the Flower Moon to be released on physical media. It was a big hit for AppleTV and Paramount, and then it was crickets in terms of a release on 4K or Blu-Ray. His films deserve that treatment, but it’s fairly hit or miss if streaming titles go on to get a physical media release. I even asked Lily Gladstone if she had any news back when I interviewed her for The Wedding Banquet. You can see portions of that interview in the video below. I am happy to state that the day has come, and Killers of the Flower Moon is now available for you to own and add to your library thanks to the fine crew at The Criterion Collection. As you can expect, it comes with gorgeous cover art, bountiful extras, and insightful essays about the film.

Martin Scorsese has been making movies for over sixty years. It’s a testament to his vision as a director and storyteller to continue to make vital films that resonate. His latest, Killers of the Flower Moon, is based on a heartbreaking true story. Scorsese not only directed the film but co-wrote with Eric Roth (Munich and Dune) basing their on David Grann’s book of the same name. They invite you into the community of Osage Indigenous people in Oklahoma. It’s a county that has become one of the wealthiest in America due to the oil springs. Lily Gladstone gives one of the best performances I’ve seen all year as Mollie Burkhart, a fiercely independent woman who is close to her family. Her life changes when Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) arrives in town looking to literally cash in on the wealth. His uncle, William Hale (Robert De Niro), is thought of as a white patriarch and protector to the Indian community in Osage. The love story between Mollie and Ernest blossoms at a time when she’s seeing every one of her family members killed under mysterious conditions.
