TRAINING DAY
Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment is proud to announce that the Oscar-winning film Training Day is now available for the first time in 4K resolution with high dynamic range.
Training Day features a dynamic performance by Denzel Washington as Alonzo, a veteran narcotics officer in the LAPD. He takes on new LAPD recruit Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) to teach him the ropes of working in the streets. It’s Jake’s first day on the job. He has a new baby daughter at home and is not ready for what Alonzo has in store. Jake has a lot to learn in this lesson on street justice versus legal justice. Alonzo reminds him, “It takes a wolf to catch a wolf.” Training Day is essentially a ride along style film from director Antoine Fuqua (The Guilty, Emancipation) as Jake and Alonzo go from one drug bust to another with memorable supporting performances from Snoop Dogg, Macy Gray, and Dr. Dre.
Training Day was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Ethan Hawke and Best Actor for Denzel Washington. Washington would go on to win earning him his second Oscar. It’s easy to see from early on why Washington won as he is pitch perfect as Alonzo. Fuqua, Washington, and Hawke set the tone of this film and their relationship in the very first time they meet at a diner. You know exactly what to expect. Fuqua is great at building tension, and it’s a wild ride for the rest of the film.
