One of my personal beliefs is that movies can both entertain and educate us. This rings wholly true for Alan J. Pakula’s 1976’s masterpiece All the President’s Men. The film is based on the true story of Washington Post investigative reporters Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) and their investigation into the Watergate scandal. The film was nominated for 8 Academy Awards, winning four including Best Supporting Actor for Jason Robards’ performance as Ben Bradlee.

All the President’s Men has become the gold standard for which every film about journalism has been compared to since its release. New films like The Post and She Said garnered great praise with many reviews also mentioning All the President’s Men. Woodward and Berstein have universally praised the film and its portrayal of their detective work, the process of journalism and telling the story truthfully.
