ZODIAC

It’s a new month, and I’m thrilled to feature David Fincher’s film Zodiac as the next movie in my series “Paul McGuire Grimes Presents” at Emagine Theaters. David Fincher has a continual thread in his career of analyzing serial killers with Se7en, Netflix’s Mindhunter, and Zodiac from 2007. His film features an all-star cast with Robert Downey Jr, Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Chloe Sevigny, Dermot Mulroney, and John Carroll Lynch. It’s based on the true story of the Zodiac killer as told in the book of the same name by Robert Graysmith. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Graysmith who was working for the San Francisco Chronicle when the paper started receiving ciphers from the Zodiac killer.

Many herald this film as Fincher’s great masterpiece which is a true testament given the prolific work he’s made like Fight Club, Se7en, and my personal favorite The Social Network. As always, I’ll do a discussion following the screening sharing my thoughts, behind the scenes trivia, and asking for audience reactions and commentary.
