Movie Review: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD Writer/Director: Dean DeBloisFeaturing the Voices of: Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, F. Murray Abraham, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Craig Ferguson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse Viking warrior Hiccup (Baruchel) takes great responsibility in keeping his dragon best friend Toothless, along with all of the other dragons, safe on a rescue island. The dragon population continues to grow and is now reaching the point where they’re overcrowding the island and exposing their secret cover. Hiccup thinks there may be a mythical land far out there in the cosmos, a secret utopia that could permanently hide them. Timing is key for Hiccup, hisRead More →

Movie Review: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 Writer/Director: Dean DeBlois Starring: Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Djimon Hounsou, Kit Harington Dreamworks Animation has made some fantastic animated franchises like Madagascar, Shrek, and Kung Fu Panda. Frankly, I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel to Chicken Run. They have another successful one under their belt with How to Train Your Dragon 2. In the Viking land Berk, the Vikings and dragons are friendly and peaceful. For many of the characters, their dragons are their best friends. Our favorite Viking Hiccup (Baruchel) has grown up a bit sinceRead More →

Movie Review: ROBOCOP

ROBOCOP Director: José Padilha Starring: Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earl Haley Valentine’s Day weekend brought us three remakes of ’80s films. Three? Really? Yes, I kid you not.  Apparently we are void of any original love stories to be told for that special day. I vaguely recall seeing the original 1987 Paul Verhoeven flick edited for television many years ago when I was a kid flipping channels. Needless to say, I went in fresh without an ingrained memories of Peter Weller suited up taking on the criminals. Jump forward toRead More →

Movie Review: THIS IS THE END

THIS IS THE ENDWriters/Directors: Seth Rogen, Evan GoldbergStarring: Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, Emma Watson, Michael Cera Who would have ever thought that the end of the world would be this funny? If more end of days/apocalypse type movies were made in this style they would be far more successful. Seth Rogen is picking up his buddy Jay Baruchel from the airport so he can spend the weekend in LA. Apparently, Jay hates the LA lifestyle and refuses to stay there. Yes, all of the actors are playing fictitious or exaggerated versions of themselves. They spend the afternoonRead More →
