“1917″ INTERVIEWS Oscar winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty) has made one of the greatest World War I films to date with 1917. He collaborates once again with cinematographer Roger Deakins, composer Thomas Newman, and co-wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns for this visceral and immersive epic. 1917 Writer/Director: Sam MendesStarring: George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Andrew Scott, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden It’s April 6, 1917 in Northern France, Blake and Scofield are two British soldiers played by George McKay and Dean-Charles Chapman who are tasked with a deadly mission to head into enemy territory to deliver an urgent message to Blake’s brother’s squadron.
