One of the movies I WAS most looking forward to in 2020 is Halloween Kills. This should come as no surprise for readers given my obsession with the Halloween franchise. I’ve done many write ups and a podcast episode about it over the years, and the recent sequel met all of my high expectations. The excitement for us Halloween fans is sky high with the return of many familiar faces from the original film like Kyle Richards, Charles Cyphers, and Nancy Stephens. During the #HalloweenAtHome watch party, director David Gordon Green event teased we will see the Myers house in the new movie. AHHH!!!! EXCITING!
You may have noticed that I said “was most looking forward to in 2020” I say that given today’s news from John Carpenter and Gordon Green that, much like every other movie, Halloween Kills has been pushed to October 15, 2021. We have another year to wait for what Jamie Lee Curtis calls “a masterpiece.” I completely understand the delay given the unknown nature of when we can all fully go back to movie theaters and relish in a big horror film like this one. A limited theater or OnDemand release just would notice suffice for a Halloween movie. Today’s announcement also came with the news that they are prepping this for an IMAX release.
Fans have eagerly been anticipating a trailer, so Carpenter and Gordon Green released a teaser to go along with today’s news. We last saw Michael Myers burning to a crisp in that hidden basement. The teaser does explain what comes next and it seems to take place minutes after the last film ended much like we saw Halloween II do back 1981. The body count will be insane, and will most likely end in a cliffhanger given Halloween Ends will be released now in October 2022 to end this new trilogy. Enjoy!
