Taika Waititi’s latest film is the crowd-pleasing sports film Next Goal Wins based on the true story of American Samoa soccer team. I sat down with writer, director Taika Waititi and soccer player Jaiya Saelua who is portrayed in the film by newcomer Kaimana to talk about the film. Saelua has some inspirational words of advice for trans youth who are interested in playing in sports.
