BABYGIRL
Director: Halina Reijn
Starring: Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson, Antonio Banderas, Sophie Wilde, Esther McGregor
Nicole Kidman is no stranger to pushing the boundaries for storytelling. Her new film, Babygirl, is a sexually provocative film told through the female lens. Babygirl has a bit of a role reversal from what we’re used to seeing on screen and in the headlines. Halina Reijn wrote and directed the film that features Nicole Kidman as Romy Mathis, the CEO of a tech company that utilizes warehouse robotics similar to Amazon. She has power, status, a terrific marriage to her husband, Jacob (Banderas), and has two daughters. She catches the eye of Harris Dickinson’s character, Samuel, after an encounter on the sidewalk. He also happens to be a new intern at her company. Samuel seems to sneak his way into every element of her life from a mentorship program to one-on-one moments in the elevator and on a balcony. Soon a sexual relationship transpires as Romy tests the limits of what’s acceptable in and outside of her marriage, especially with someone much younger than her. In theaters December 25
