BLUE MOON

Director: Richard Linklater
Starring: Ethan Hawke, Andrew Scott, Simon Delaney, Bobby Cannavale, Margaret Qualley

You’ve probably heard the hits songs “Blue Moon” “My Funny Valentine” and “The Lady is a Tramp.” They’re all written by the great Lorenz Hart. While you may not know about his personal life, you’ll get a glimpse into his complicated headspace with the new film, Blue Moon. Blue Moon marks the latest collaboration between director Richard Linklater and actor Ethan Hawke. Hawke plays Lorenz Hart who was part of the songwriting team of Rodgers and Hart. Andrew Scott plays Richard Rodgers. We see Hart sitting in a private box on opening night of the musical Oklahoma! The legendary musical was not written by Rodgers and Hart, but rather Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein (Delaney). Hart leaves shortly after it starts and cozies up to the bar nearby at Sardi’s. There’s a bitter, jealous and sad mindset within Hart as he predicts Oklahoma! will be a massive success topping anything he ever wrote with Richard Rodgers. The film also stars Bobby Cannavale as the bartender, and Margaret Qually as Hart’s friend Elizabeth Weiland. In theaters and Video OnDemand
