THE CAT IN THE HAT

Directors: Alessandro Carloni, Erica Rivinoja
Starring: Bill Hader, Xochitl Gomez, Tiago Martinez, Quinta Brunson, Giancarlo Esposito, Bowen Yang, America Ferrera, Paula Pell

Audiences know the story of “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss. The ending of that adventure is the catalyst for this new film as he returns to headquarters and learns his fate. Bill Hader voices The Cat in the Hat who is approached by Sherri from HR (Brunson) and intern Gary (Yang) about how the big boss Mr. Hoogeboom is furious with him. Giancarlo Esposito brings just the level of villainy to his role. The Cat in the Hat reached the client level of “Deliriously delighted” but his Mess-O-Meter was off the chart. He went too far on that rainy day of mischief, but he’s been given one more chance to keep his job. America Ferrera voices Carmen, a single mom to two kids, Gabby (Gomez) and Sebastian (Martinez), who has moved to a new city. She has to go to work, so the kids are left home alone in their new unfurnished apartment frustrated about having to move again. In comes The Cat in the Hat through a portal in their wall, and he wants them to have a brighter day. He uses the “go-backer” device to help them escape to a happier time, but while that watch comes with magical powers, it is dangerous taking them on a wild adventure. In theaters
