WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Director: Emerald Fennell
Starring: Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Owen Cooper, Allison Oliver, Martin Clunes, Ewan Mitchell, Charlotte Mellington

Many consider Wuthering Heights one of the great literary romances of all times. Audiences will have to determine that with the page to screen adaptation from Oscar winner Emerald Fennell. It’s the late 1700s and a young Catherine Earnshaw witnesses the death of a man on Hanging Day. It’s quite shocking for the young girl. She later returns home and learns that her father has taken in a young orphan boy to live with them and be somewhat of a pet for Catherine. She names him Heathcliff after her brother who had passed away. She’s mischievous and adventurous and develops a bit of a childhood crush on Heathcliff. They stay by each other’s side even into adulthood. Catherine is now played by Margot Robbie while Jacob Elordi plays the now dashing and brooding Heathcliff. Catherine’s father believes she has now reached spinsterhood and needs to be married off. She becomes betrothed to their wealthy neighbor Edgar Linton (Latif) thinking Heathcliff is below her. Edgar and Catherine would eventually marry, and she becomes pregnant which complicates the true feelings she has toward Heathcliff. Hong Chau also stars in the film as Nelly, Catherine’s longstanding servant. In theaters
