It’s been twenty years of fans quoting The Devil Wears Prada, and it’s hit the pop culture zeitgeist like no one could have expected. Now the core four are back for a sequel that lives up to its original. Times have changed over the last twenty years, and that’s one of the major themes of this sequel. Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs has spent years building up her career as a journalist and has now won a prestigious award. Shortly before she accepts, she learns that her entire department has been fired via text. That same night her old boss, Miranda Priestly (Streep), goes viral for all the wrong reasons. That scandal is jeopardizing her future and legacy at Runway Magazine. Runway is now in PR crisis mode as they hire Andy back to head up the Features department. In pure Miranda fashion, she doesn’t even remember who Andy is. Standing by Miranda’s side is the always fashionable and loyal Nigel (Tucci). It’s going to take an unlikely partnership with their old colleague, Emily (Blunt), who now works at Dior to save face for the magazine. Like many businesses within entertainment, that is all happening on the surface as something more cutthroat is happening behind the scenes. In theaters
