“NO TIME TO DIE” by Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish may just be the biggest name in music right now following her massive wins at the Grammys taking home five awards including Best New Artist and Album of the Year. She can now add herself to the elite list of artists including Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Adele, and Sam Smith to pen the theme song for a James Bond film.
I’ve listened to it a few times, and it is certainly growing on me. Eilish has that smokey sound to her voice. The stakes feel real with a nice orchestral build that we often find in Bond themes. I can’t quite make out every lyric, but that’s typical for Eilish’s music. Adele and Smith went on to win Oscars for their themes. Could the same fate follow Eilish who penned the title track with her brother Finneas? We will only know its power and legacy once the film plays with the title sequence behind it and in context with the film’s story.
No Time to Die arrives in theaters April 2020. You can find the trailer HERE.
Take a listen to Eilish’s theme. What are your thoughts? How does it compare to other Bond themes?
