NORMAL
Director: Ben Wheatley
Starring: Bob Odenkirk, Henry Winkler, Lena Headey, Billy MacLellan, Ryan Allen, Reena Jolly, Jess McLeod
Bob Odenkirk is a great character actor, which makes him a fun and unlikely action star. He re-teams with screenwriter Derek Kolstad for the new film Normal. This story is anything but that. Bob Odenkirk stars as Ulysses, a small town sheriff with a complicated past. He’s taken on a temporary position as sheriff in the quiet city of Normal, Minnesota. The population is small, it feels half abandoned as its out in the middle of nowhere, and everyone knows each other’s business. The tagline for the town is “We like it here.” Henry Winkler stars as the Mayor whom everyone loves. Voiceover is used to show Ulysses on the phone with his ex-wife detailing the low stakes shenanigans of Normal. The audience is keenly aware that this town is anything but normal, as the actual introduction of the movie teases the behind the scenes operations of Normal. Ulysses finds out the hard when after a bank robbery gone wrong. To top it off, a snowstorm is heading into town making this wild night one that Ulysses will never forget. In theaters
