SERENITY

Writer/Director: Steven Knight
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Diane Lane, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong

Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway have reunited after first starring in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. McConaughey plays Baker Dill who’s a devoted tuna fisherman. We learn that he has a son who he no longer sees on a regular basis and he’s making enemies of his customers. His ex-wife (Hathaway) arrives into town unexpectedly offering ten million dollars to kill her abusive husband (Clarke) and feed him to the sharks. If only that was the plot of this movie. Through its many twists, Serenity reveals itself to be something completely different that I cannot spoil here thus making it a shortlist contender for the Worst Film of 2019.
