Director: Rian Johnson
Starring: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro

The time has finally come to feast your eyes on the very first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It feels very delayed compared to how early we saw a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Last Jedi, aka Episode VIII, will pick up where The Force Awakens ended, and I assume will prominently feature Mark Hamill and his return as Luke Skywalker. Is he the title character or is it Daisy Ridley’s Rey? It almost appears as if it’s the collective group of Jedi that remains. We won’t know until it hits theaters.

Stepping into the director’s chair is Rian Johnson who also wrote the film. He made a name for himself back in 2012 with sci-fi time travel film Looper. I completely trust his vision, and feel like he can easily tackle the Star Wars universe. The trailer was just unveiled as part of the huge Star Wars Celebration going on in Orlando right now. It looks absolutely stunning and will no doubt make fans giddy for it’s December release.

RELEASE DATE: December 15, 2017

  1. Yup. This looks good. I’m not sure I want to see any other trailer. This was just perfect to get me interested but not really give anything away!

    • I’d be fine if I didn’t watch any more trailers. Let’s be real, I’m sure I will. If they start revealing too much…I’m out!

  2. I think it may be a step in the right direction. I believe this is the first SW trailer released under the Di$ney regime that did NOT blatantly play on people’s OT nostalgia or give off an ‘expensive fan film’ vibe. Hopefully that phase is now over; it’s just a shame that one of the core saga movies had to be squandered for its sake :-\. I remain cautiously optimistic. If Di$ney continues to go down a path I cannot follow ; ) and turns SW into another homogenized cookie-cutter franchise, it will be a tough pill to swallow.

    • I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve enjoyed both The Force Awakens and Rogue One. They needed some sort of fan nostalgia for Episode VII, but I have faith they’ll step away from that now that they’re in full force.
