SINNERS

The best movie of 2025 is now available for you to own and add to your physical media collection. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released Sinners on multiple formats including 4K, Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital and a special edition Steelbook. Writer/director Ryan Coogler has made his most personal film to date, as he collaborates with star Michael B. Jordan for the fifth time. The result is a stunning visual feast thanks to his use of filming on IMAX cameras.

Coogler demonstrated a strong sense of world building with how he envisioned Wakanda in the Black Panther films. That keen eye is on display as he reimagines Mississippi in 1932 and adds vampire lore into the picture. Michael B. Jordan plays twins in the film playing both Smoke and Stack who come back into town after working with Al Capone. They have a reputation for violence and attitude and shouldn’t be crossed. Their mission is to gather supplies and money and open a juke joint offering a little reprieve for the Black community to come sing, dance, and enjoy the merriment around them. It’s a bit of a family affair as their cousin, Preacher Boy Sammie (Caton), joins them on their mission despite a warning from his father. Hailee Steinfeld plays Mary, Stack’s former lover who has a few choice words for him now that he’s back in town. The juke joint opens with a rollicking good time until three white vampires show up posing as musicians and all hell breaks loose. The film also stars Delroy Lindo as Delta Slim and Wunmi Mosaku, as a spiritual healer who has a history with Smoke.

I was blown away by Coogler’s use of music alongside two-time Oscar winning composer Ludwig Göransson. He very well could earn his third Oscar for this film, as the score and its soundtrack is so integral in telling this story. Sinners may be set in Mississippi in the 1930s, but Coogler is playing in the space of elevated horror with his use of vampires, and you can make some modern day connections to who they represent. Michael B. Jordan has never been better playing twins Smoke and Stack. Jordan is used to starring in very contemporary stories, and it’s a treat to see him stretch into a period film. If you’re looking for an original story, something that feels fresh and new, check out Sinners.

The new release is loaded with special features that go deep into the making of the film from every aspect from diving into Ryan Coogler’s family history, his inspirations, creating the film’s sound with Ludwig Göransson, and Michael B. Jordan discussing his process into becoming the twins.
