VISIONQUEST
Creator: Terry Matalas
Starring: Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Emily Hampshire, T’Nia Miller, Todd Stashwick, Orla Brady, Henry Lewis, James D’Arcy
Paul Bettany has been playing Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers Age of Ultron in 2015. He’s heading the new Disney+ series VisionQuest which is as the final installment in the WandaVision trilogy following Agatha All Along. The character of Vision has been through it all throughout his history in the MCU and the first episode reminds audience how this synthetic being fell in love with Wanda, was destroyed by Thanos and is now rebuilt with a version of himself that’s stuck somewhere in the midst of all of those memories and lifetimes. He’s not entirely himself in ways that he remembers. He’s taken on a human form living in Edinburgh working as a bartender. Internally, his processing unit and data center is filled with other AI systems like James D’Arcy’s J.A.R.V.I.S, E.D.I.T.H. (the spunky and playful Emily Hampshire), F.R.I.D.A.Y., D.U.M.E., and the mysterious Ultron. Yes, James Spader is back as Ultron in a surprising fashion. Vision uses these AI systems within himself to figure out what’s going on with him. On the outside, there’s a bounty hunter called Paladin (Stashwick) who is out to kill Vision. In order to lure Vision out of hiding, Paladin uses Vision’s son Tommy Maximoff as bait. Ruaridh Mollica now plays the adult Tommy who we saw introduced as a young boy in WandaVision.
