WONDER MAN

Director/Creator: Destin Daniel Cretton
Starring: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ben Kingsley, X Mayo, Arian Moayed, Zlatko Buric, Shola Adewusi

Yahya Abdul Mateen II is moving from DC to Marvel as he stars in the new Marvel series Wonder Man. He plays Simon Williams, your typical struggling actor in Los Angeles trying to catch his big break. He grew up going to the movies with his dad and is finally getting work. He’s a day player on American Horror Story only to get fired due to having opinions about his character. He plunkers into his seat at a local movie theater and strikes up conversation with an elderly gentleman named Trevor Slattery (Kingsley). Marvel fans should recognize this character who also popped up in Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi. Simon also recognizes him for playing The Mandarin which was the twist in Iron Man 3. Trevor mentions an upcoming audition for the big screen reboot of the superhero story “Wonder Man”, and Simon is determined that he is made for the part. Audiences should know that Trevor Slattery is not one to be trusted and the first episode ends with a twist that alters the fate of the rest of the series that I’m not about to spoil here. Now streaming on Disney+
