TWIN CITIES FILM FEST 2025

It’s that time of year again and the Twin Cities Film Fest is back and better than ever. Executive director and founder Jatin Setia has an incredible line up to celebrate their sixteenth year. This year’s programming will be presented at The Shops at West End’s Marcus West End Cinemas, and they’re adding screenings at the Edina Mann 4 this year for the first time.

The festival will feature 160+ films and will run Thursday, October 16th with their opening night film Hamnet from Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao and will close out on Saturday, October 25th with Lost & Found in Cleveland, a story that takes place over the course of 24 hours and boasts a phenomenal cast including Martin Sheen, June Squibb, Jon Lovitz, and Santino Fontana. Fontana will be attending the screening for a post-film discussion.

Twin Cities Film Fest always boasts a line-up of fall favorites that are garnering award season chatter. Hamnet has been the talk of the film festival circuit having won the prestigious People’s Choice award at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. Many former TIFF and TCFF winners have gone on to win Best Picture at the Oscar like Nomadland and Moonlight. Other buzz-worthy films showcasing at TCFF this year include:

Friday 10/17 – Christy, starring Sydney Sweeney

Saturday 10/18 – Hedda, starring Tessa Thompson

Wednesday 10/22 – Bugonia, starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons

Friday 10/24 – Is This Thing On?, starring Bradley Cooper, Will Arnett, Laura Dern

Actors and Filmmakers will be attendance throughout the festival for red carpet photos and post-screening discussions. Jacob Tremblay, Santino Fontana, Audrey Zahn, RJ Mitte, and Vincent Kartheiser will all be in attendance.

Twin Cities Film Fest always prides themselves in the incredible films they show as part of their Changemaker Series, which focuses on a different social issue each year. This year’s “TCFF Changemaker Series” is shining a light on domestic trauma. It will feature the premiere of the Minnesota-made film, The Seventh Turn, directed by Eric D. Howell and co-directed by Marta Milans, on October 25. The film will be followed by a discussion featuring local community partner organizations, CornerHouse and And Now She Rises. On top of this year’s Changemaker Series, close to half of this year’s feature length films and short films fall under the acclaimed “HER Series” which feature films by, for, and about women. More than 40% of this year’s films highlight powerful BIPOC voices.

I say this every year, but there is truly something for everyone at the Twin Cities Film Fest. It’s a wonderful time to gather as a community, educate yourself on different themes and issues, see some terrific movies, and then talk about it in the lounge or the lobby, over a cocktail and celebrate what this year has to offer.
