THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU

Director: Jon Favreau
Starring: Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, Martin Scorsese, Jonny Coyne, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Brendan Wayne

The Mandalorian was a big hit for Star Wars and Disney+ with Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, becoming the cutest thing in the galaxy. Now they’re reunited for a big screen adventure in the aptly titled, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Having a new Star Wars movie to kick off the summer blockbuster season sounds like a solid choice. It’s been seven years since Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker and since they’ve we’ve seen a bunch of Star Wars series on Disney+ that feature new and fan favorite characters. I wish The Mandalorian and Grogu would have felt like a big epic summer blockbuster. Instead, it feels too intimate and moderate in scale knowing the rich history of Star Wars on the big screen.

The story picks up with the New Republic slowly reuniting while the Empire has primarily fallen but has not been forgotten. Sigourney Weaver’s character, Colonel Ward, doesn’t want to take any chances and hires The Mandalorian to find out what the Empire might be doing to stage a comeback. She claims, “its not about revenge, but preventing another war.” Pedro Pascal returns as the Mandalorian, and he and Grogu set off to go find Rotta the Hutt who might be an unlikely ally. Rotta is the son of Jabba the Hutt and is voiced by Jeremy Allen White. Now in theaters
