AND THE OSCAR FOR BEST ORIGINAL SONG GOES TO…

AND THE OSCAR FOR BEST ORIGINAL SONG GOES TO… Every year I like to post the nominees for Best Original Song so you can listen to them before the big night in case you haven’t seen their nominated films. This year the clear favorite is La La Land, the new original musical that acts as an ode to the old MGM musicals and speaks to all of the big dreamers out there. La La Land scored nominations for both “City of Stars” and “The Audition (The Fools Who Dream)”. Both encapsulate the themes of the movie so well, but I prefer the latter song. IfRead More →

2017 OSCAR NOMINEES YOU CAN WATCH AT HOME! The Oscar nominations were recently announced, and it turns out there are plenty of nominees you can watch at home from the comfort of your own couch or recliner. The big question that comes into play is where to begin. I’d suggest starting with the big categories like Best Picture and the acting nominees. Here are your marching orders if you can’t make it out to the theater. You have until Sunday, February 26th. Happy movie watching! Hell or High Water Nominated For: Best Picture, Supporting Actor (Jeff Bridges), Original Screenplay, Editing Where to find it: XFinityRead More →

THE 89th ACADEMY AWARDS – THE NOMINATIONS

THE 89th ACADEMY AWARDS – THE NOMINATIONS Here we go! This year’s Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and no one was surprised to hear La La Land lead the pack. The Academy loves movies about actors and Hollywood, and Damien Chazelle’s film is a tribute to the old MGM musicals. I posted my predictions yesterday and gave La La Land 14 nominations. My prediction was right on as it has tied Titanic and All About Eve with the most nominations. Coming in next is Moonlight and Arrival with 8 nominations and Manchester By the Sea with 6. If I had my choice, I’d giveRead More →

PAUL PREDICTS THE 2017 OSCAR NOMINEES

PAUL PREDICTS THE 2017 OSCAR NOMINEES It’s that time of the year again. The Oscar nominations arrive in the early hours of Tuesday, January 24th. Once again, I am participating in a “Guess the Nominees” contest for fellow blogger Shane over at his website, Film Actually. Here are my picks for who may hear their name called on nomination morning. Don’t be surprised if you hear La La Land mentioned over and over. I have it down for 14 nominations. That may be a bit excessive, but it sure is getting all of the buzz. Moonlight and Manchester By the Sea should both do veryRead More →

AND THE OSCAR FOR BEST SONG GOES TO…

AND THE OSCAR FOR BEST SONG GOES TO…             It’s Oscar week and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s always thrilling leading up to the big day as we try to predict who will go home with the Oscar. I thought it would be fun to take a listen to the five nominees for Best Original Song. There is usually one clear winner or one song that people know and four others that people barely remember. We have a pretty good category this winner with a few exceptional songs. Let’s take a listen: 1. “Everything is Awesome” from THE LEGORead More →
