THE FALL GUY
Director: David Leitch
Starring: Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Winston Duke, Stephanie Hsu
There’s no better start to the summer movie season than with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy, a guaranteed good time at the movies. Gosling and Blunt teased their natural chemistry at the Oscars this year in an homage to stunt performers in the movies. It was the perfect set up for their new film that finds Gosling as stun man Colt Seavers who has spent years performing stunts for Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s character, Tom Ryder. After a stunt goes horribly wrong, Colt withdraws from the industry to heal and recover. Eighteen months pass by when he’s asked by head producer Gail (Waddingham) to come back to set for director Jody Moreno’s big new epic sci-fi film of cosmic proportions. She’s played by Emily Blunt, and Colt and Jody had a bit of a secret fling when they used to work together. Their reunion isn’t roses and daisies when Colt realizes he’s been set up by Gail. To complicate things even further, Tom Ryder goes missing and Colt is now asked to find and rescue him given he’s Tom’s stunt double. In theaters
