THE OLD GUARD 2
Director: Victoria Mahoney
Starring: Charlize Theron, Uma Thurman, Veronica Ngô, KiKi Layne, Henry Golding, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli
The Old Guard was a pandemic hit for Charlize Theron and Netflix. It’s based on the graphic novel series by Greg Rucka. It features a diverse group of immortal mercenaries led by Charlize Theron’s character, Andy. At the end of the first film, she was turned into a mortal and is now grappling with that concept when the sequel starts up. What she doesn’t know is that an older immortal named Quỳnh (Ngô) has resurfaced after being buried under water for centuries. Quỳnh’s presence is alarming for Andy as she tracks down Henry Golding’s character, Tuah, who may have some answers. He has an underground treasure trove of books and artifacts about the immortals dating back to the original immortal herself, Discord (Thurman). She has also returned and made her presence known to Andy and the team. Discord now poses as the greatest threat facing the immortals. The film also marks the return of the original cast with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kiki Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, and Luca Marinelli as the rest of Andy’s team of immortals. Now streaming on Netflix
