I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER

Director: Jennifer Kaytin Robinson
Starring: Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyric Withers, Sarah Pidgeon

Legacy sequels are all the rage right now both in and out of the horror genre. It was only a matter of time before we also saw a legacy sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. Much, like Scream and Halloween, it retains the original title but picks up decades later. The story picks up in present day Southport. The events of 1997 aren’t entirely forgotten, and its two lone survivors have handled that massacre in different ways. Freddie Prinze Jr is back as Ray who is now running a bar, while Jennifer Love Hewitt’s final girl, Julie James, has left town and is now a college professor. Their past comes back in eerie similar fashion. Madelyn Cline stars as Danica who is celebrating an engagement party with her fiancé, Teddy (Tyriq Withers). It’s a celebratory time for them as it marks a reunion with high school friends Ava (Chase Sui Wonders), Milo (Jonah Hauer-King), and Stevie (Sara Pidgeon). In familiar fashion, the five friends get behind the wheel and their reckless behavior on “Reaper’s Curve” causes a car accident killing someone. It’s Danica’s idea to have the accident covered up and pretend like it never happened. One year passes, and now Danica’s engaged to someone new, and it’s at her second engagement party where she receives that ominous note saying “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” Now available to rent and buy On Demand and will be on physical media for collectors on October 7th.
