Robert De Niro was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award. In true De Niro fashion, he gave a pointed speech about using his voice to bring attention to the abuse of power in our country. Our four acting winners (Zellweger, Phoenix, Dern, and Pitt) previously won the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards. I will be very surprised if we see a surprise upset on Oscars night. It was a fun award ceremony despite the predictable wins. We saw some great speeches from Brad Pitt to Michelle Williams to De Niro. Pitt was self-deprecating and made fun of Quentin Tarantino’s foot fetish. Here’s to the Oscars. Tune in February 9!
