THE FEAR STREET TRILOGY

THE FEAR STREET TRILOGY Director Leigh Janiak has taken a love of R.L. Stine’s book series from the 1990s and turned it in a satisfying new trilogy for Netflix. Janiak’s vision was part creative new take on a trilogy, part homage to the horror genre all while telling a queer love story at the heart of it. Unlike most trilogy, this went in reverse order in telling the story of Sarah Fier and the curse that’s been haunting Shadyside for years. Here are my reviews of all three parts. Movie Review: FEAR STREET PART THREE: 1666

FEAR STREET PART THREE: 1666 Director: Leigh JaniakStarring: Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Gillian Jacobs,Sadie Sink, Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger Netflix’s new Fear Street trilogy comes to an end after three weeks of nostalgic and thrilling scares. The final chapter, Fear Street Part Three: 1666, is now streaming. Director Leigh Janiak has taken a love of R.L. Stine’s book series from the 1990s and turned it in a satisfying trilogy and Part Three: 1666 goes back to where it all started with the legend of the witch Sarah Fier. She’s played by Kiana Madiera who played Deena in the 1994 and 1978Read More →

Movie Review: FEAR STREET PART TWO: 1978

FEAR STREET PART TWO: 1978 Director: Leigh JaniakStarring: Sadie Sink, Emily Rudd, Ryan Simpkins, McCabe Slye, Kiana Madeira, Benjamin Flores Jr., Gillian Jacobs, Ted Sutherland Most trilogies leave you waiting years in between entries. Not the case for Netflix’s new Fear Street trilogy as Fear Street Part Two: 1978 will be streaming on July 9, just one week after the release of Fear Street Part One: 1994 We last left Deena and her brother Josh shook by the fact that the urban legend of a witch named Sarah Fier had struck again killing many of Deena’s friends at Shadyside High School. Now, Deena and JoshRead More →

Movie Review: COME PLAY

COME PLAY Director: Jacob ChaseStarring: Azhy Robertson, Gillian Jacobs, John Gallagher Jr, Winslow Fegley Do you ever feel like sometimes your phone or tablet is watching you? Now imagine there was a monster inside your child’s devices. That’s what’s at play in the new scary movie, Come Play. You may remember Azhy Robertson as the kid caught in a custody battle in Marriage Story. In Come Play, he plays Oliver, a non-verbal autistic kid who uses a words app on his phone to communicate with his parents, played by Gillian Jacobs and John Gallagher Jr. They also are in the throngs of separating throwing anotherRead More →

Movie Review: LIFE OF THE PARTY

LIFE OF THE PARTY Director: Ben Falcone Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Molly Gordon, Maya Rudolph, Gillian Jacobs, Luke Benward, Julie Bowen, Heidi Gardner, Debby Ryan, Jacki Weaver, Stephen Root Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone frequently collaborate on a variety of projects. They’ll write the script together while he directs it and she stars as the lead. Life of the Party is their third movie together following 2014’s Tammy and 2016’s The Boss. I’d rank this film as the best of the three. In it McCarthy plays Deanna who is heartbroken after waiving goodbye to her daughter, Maddie (Gordon), who’s entering her freshman year ofRead More →

“LIFE OF THE PARTY” CAST INTERVIEWS

“LIFE OF THE PARTY” CAST INTERVIEWS I recently sat down with the cast of Warner Bros’ Life of the Party, directed by Ben Falcone and starring Melissa McCarthy. It’s a funny mother-daughter story, and we get to see McCarthy in a different light than we’re used to from films like Bridesmaids or Tammy. Here are the interviews and make sure to head to my You Tube channel and click SUBSCRIBE for more reviews and interviews.
