PAUL PREDICTS THE OSCAR WINNERS (Some of them…)

PAUL PREDICTS THE OSCAR WINNERS (Some of them…) It’s been quite the year when it comes to Oscars 2019. It think it’s going to go down in the books as the most controversial, disastrous, and unpredictable lead up to the big night. The Academy has had to back track on many decisions in terms of their telecast and their desperate ploy to cut the run time down to three hours. No need to get into all of those bumpy bricks in the road at this point. Let’s focus in on eight of the categories. Here are my predictions of who will win on Sunday andRead More →

THE 25th SAG AWARDS – THE WINNERS

THE 25th SAG AWARDS – THE WINNERS Here are the winners for The 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards. The only big surprise of the night was for Emily Blunt for Best Supporting Actress. She won for her fearless work in A Quiet Place, but the big front runner in this category for the Oscars is Regina King for If Beale Street Could Talk. King did not get the SAG nomination. THE 89th ACADEMY AWARDS – THE WINNERS

THE 89th ACADEMY AWARDS – THE WINNERS That was on Oscars broadcast for the books! I went into the night thinking that we’d see a La La Land sweep. After it lost the first few categories, I knew we would be in a night of surprises. Justin Timberlake opened the show performing his rousing and catchy number from Trolls, which had everyone up and dancing in the aisles. Jimmy Kimmel was in pure Kimmel mode for his monologue. He was biting, funny, and easily kept the celebs in check. I can’t tell if Mel Gibson heard the jabs thrown at him, but they were spot-on.Read More →

THE 89th ACADEMY AWARDS – THE NOMINATIONS

THE 89th ACADEMY AWARDS – THE NOMINATIONS Here we go! This year’s Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and no one was surprised to hear La La Land lead the pack. The Academy loves movies about actors and Hollywood, and Damien Chazelle’s film is a tribute to the old MGM musicals. I posted my predictions yesterday and gave La La Land 14 nominations. My prediction was right on as it has tied Titanic and All About Eve with the most nominations. Coming in next is Moonlight and Arrival with 8 nominations and Manchester By the Sea with 6. If I had my choice, I’d giveRead More →

Movie Review: HIDDEN FIGURES

HIDDEN FIGURES Director: Theodore Melfi Starring: Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Costner, Jim Parson, Kirsten Dunst, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell Names like John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell, and Buzz Aldrin are household names thanks to their bravery and willingness to go into space. What about all of those behind the scenes unsung heroes that made it all possible? That’s the idea behind Hidden Figures as it looks at three African-American women who were pioneers at NASA, and yet, no one knows their story. In an aptly used flashback moment that opens the movie, we’re told that even at aRead More →
