“TENET” Interviews

“TENET” Interviews I sat down with John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) and Elizabeth Debicki (Widows) to talk about his epic new film Tenet from visionary director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Dunkirk). We geek out over Nolan’s work, keeping this story straight while filming, and Washington offers a new side of Robert Pattinson. **click SUBSCRIBE on my YouTube channel for more reviews and interviews** Here’s my interview with John David Washington Here’s the interview with Elizabeth DebickiRead More →

Movie Review: TENET

TENET Director: Christopher NolanStarring: John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine The first big film to test movie audiences as to whether they will head back into movie theaters is Tenet, the latest from writer/director Christopher Nolan. John David Washington is at the center of this story and is referred to as “The Protagonist” He’s pulled out of a medically induced coma after a failed mission only to continue on his mission. It’s one that’s hard for him to conceive and understand as it involves the inversion of time. Simply put, he’s trying to prevent World War III which would beRead More →

Movie Trailer: TENET

TENET Director: Christopher NolanStarring: John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor-Johnson While many of us are patiently waiting for movie theaters to open with safe precautions in hand, I can’t state yet when I’ll feel comfortable returning to a theater. That being said, one of the biggest movies to look forward to is Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. It’s been rumored that he has been using this stay-at-home time to put the finishing touches on his latest masterpiece in order to have it ready in theaters as soon as possible. I have already seen early teaser trailers, and I’m blown away.Read More →

PAUL’S TRIP TO “2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY”

PAUL’S TRIP TO “2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY” 2001: A Space Odyssey is back in theaters in a new “unrestored” print on 70mm thanks to director Christopher Nolan. It’s touring the country for a limited time only. I saw it the only night and was blown away. Here’s a little bit more on the work Christopher Nolan did on this new print and where you can find it playing Minnesota. PAUL PREDICTS (SOME OF) THE OSCARS WINNERS

PAUL PREDICTS (SOME OF) THE OSCARS WINNERS This year’s Oscar race will no doubt come with some surprises. The acting categories seem pretty locked in place given that the four frontrunners (Oldman, McDormand, Janney, and Rockwell) have won every other major award so far. It’s the Best Picture and Best Director races that seem a bit more ambiguous as you can make cases for a variety of the nominees. Here are my thoughts on the top six categories And the nominees are… BEST ACTOR 1. Timothee Chalamet, Call Me By Your Name 2. Daniel Day-Lewis, Phantom Thread 3. Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out 4. Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour 5. DenzelRead More →

Movie Review: DUNKIRK

DUNKIRK Writer/Director: Christopher Nolan Starring: Fionn Whitehead, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, Harry Styles, Jack Lowden Dunkirk is yet another example of how Christopher Nolan can masterfully tackle any genre. Over the past decade, we’ve seen him go through space and time continuums with Interstellar, a superhero saga with The Dark Knight Trilogy, and dive deep into our dreams and subconscious with Inception. All of his films tell vastly different stories, yet are unmistakably his movies. With Dunkirk, he turns to the harrowing World War II battle in France between the Allies and the Germans. The British and French armies have beenRead More →

MY DEFINITIVE RANKING OF BATMAN ON THE BIG SCREEN

MY DEFINITIVE RANKING OF BATMAN ON THE BIG SCREEN Batman is making another return to the big screen this weekend with Zach Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the second film in DC Comics’ larger Justice League universe. The Caped Crusader is my all-time favorite superhero. I even donned the cape and cowl for Halloween one year when I was a kid. I thought I would take a look back at the many iterations we’ve seen of the character. We’ve seen a variety of Oscar winners, villains, styles, themes, bat logos, and nipples in the eight movies that have come before. Let’sRead More →

FALL 2014 MOVIE PREVIEW

FALL 2014 MOVIE PREVIEW 1. INTERSTELLARDirector: Christopher NolanStarring: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Michael CaineI am a huge fan of Christopher Nolan, the visionary director of Inception and The Dark KnightTrilogy. This film may be his biggest challenge to date. It is still shrouded in secrecy, but a couple of trailers have been released.  I am stunned and awed by everything I am seeing so far. It has been in the works for the past few years and was originally inspired by physicist Kip Thorne and his theories behind using wormholes in space to time travel. Matthew McConaughey continues his hot streak by leading this ensembleRead More →

PAUL’S YEAR AT THE MOVIES: 2012 EDITION

PAUL’S YEAR AT THE MOVIES: 2012 EDITION I started this blog two and a half years ago and have loved writing reviews and sharing my thoughts with all of my loyal readers. It brings me great joy whenever I get to share a passion of mine with others. Whether you have left comments on the blog or on my Facebook page, I THANK YOU! It means the world to me. In 2011 I started tracking how many new movies I watched in a year. I wanted to track the number of movies, where, when, and how I saw the movie. I must give credit toRead More →

Movie Trailer: MAN OF STEEL

MAN OF STEEL Director: Zach Snyder Starring: Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman Amy Adams as Lois Lane Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent Diane Lane as Martha Kent Russell Crowe as Jor-El Michael Shannon as General Zod Laurence Fishburne as Perry White Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy By the looks of the trailer, the upcoming Superman movie Man of Steel looks to be an origins story. Fans of the series did not have a warm reaction towards the last movie, 2006’s Superman Returns, for numerous reasons. I myself did not appreciate the casting of Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. Audience members should be relieved because theRead More →
