ROMA
Writer/Director: Alfonso Cuarón
Starring: Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira, Jorge Antonio Guerrero, Diego Cortina Autrey
Roma is Alfonso Cuarón’s latest cinematic achievement following films like Gravity, Children of Men, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He wrote, directed, edited, and was his own cinematographer on it.
It takes place in Roma, a middle class neighborhood of Mexico City in the 1970s. It’s an examination of two women trying to get by when their men leave them behind. Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio) is the live in maid and nanny for Sofia (Marina de Tavira) and her four children.
