TENET
Director: Christopher Nolan
Starring: John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor-Johnson
While many of us are patiently waiting for movie theaters to open with safe precautions in hand, I can’t state yet when I’ll feel comfortable returning to a theater. That being said, one of the biggest movies to look forward to is Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. It’s been rumored that he has been using this stay-at-home time to put the finishing touches on his latest masterpiece in order to have it ready in theaters as soon as possible. I have already seen early teaser trailers, and I’m blown away. Nolan’s films like Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception, and The Dark Knight Trilogy showcase why his films are required viewing on the biggest screen possible as opposed to a home streaming service. His use of shooting on IMAX and 70mm film is unparalleled in the industry and just can’t be fully appreciated on a small screen.
Christopher Nolan is certainly bending the concepts of time and space with Tenet as the title itself is a palindrome. If you were confused by Inception, this will be a mind trip as well. What we know so far is that John David Washington is trying to prevent World War III. We don’t need to know anything else as it’s best to just go in blind.
As of now it seems up in the air if Warner Bros. Pictures is keeping with the July 17, 2020 release. The trailer doesn’t list a release date, so many they are keeping their options open.
Here’s the trailer
