FEAR STREET PART ONE: 1994

Director: Leigh Janiak
Starring: Kiana Madiera, Olivia Scott Welch, Julia Rehwald, Richard Flores Jr, Maya Hawke, Fred Hechinger

My early pre-teen years were filled with reading any R.L. Stine “Fear Street” book I could get my hands on. These were a little edgier and scarier than his “Goosebumps” series. They’re now the basis for a spooky new trilogy from Netflix. Fear Street Part One: 1994 hits the streaming service July 2.

The town of Shadyside has been hit with a series of teen slayings dating back years. Now, the Skull Mask Killer has struck again. A young woman working at the Shadyside Mall B Dalton booksellers is killed and despite the killer being shot, the horrors don’t stop. A group of friends including Deena, her friend and cheerleading captain Kate, younger brother Josh, her ex girlfriend Sam, and their goofy friend Simon believe it is the spirit of a witch haunting Shadyside for centuries.
